2019 Toyota Tacoma

There are six different trim levels available for the 2019 Tacoma. The entry-level SR has all the basics including 16-inch steel wheels, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, movable cleats in the bed, and a bed made from sturdy composite. Step up to the SR5 for the optional longer wheelbase, chrome exterior trim, 16-inch alloy wheels, and fog lights.

The TRD Sport has 17-inch alloy wheels, integrated turn signals, body-colored fender flares, a body-colored rear bumper, and a hood scoop. Try the TRD Off-Road to remove the hood scoop and add chrome rear bumper and textured black fender flares. The Limited comes with a short bed, 18-inch wheels and low-profile tires, while the TRD Pro has a black grille, all-terrain tires, and all of the TRD Off-Road equipment.

A 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine is the base powertrain for the Tacoma. It produces 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque and comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and either two- or four-wheel drive. An optional 3.5-liter V-6 with 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque is an available option for some models and comes standard on others.

The Tacoma handles well for a pickup truck with a firm, smooth ride. This is a truck you can take on your commute to work or on an off-road adventure. When equipped with a tow package and the V-6 engine, it can tow up to 6,800 pounds and haul up to 1,620 pounds.

There is room in the cabin for either four or five passengers, depending on the body style, and the Double Cab option provides plenty of head- and leg-room both up front and in the back seat. You'll get a push-button start in any of the trims, high-quality materials, and cloth seats in the lower-end models. The TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road offer the option to upgrade to leather upholstery, and you can also get heated front seats.

Bumping up in trims adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and upgraded technology, including a 7-inch touch-screen display, navigation, and an upgraded stereo system. The Entune infotainment system comes standard along with satellite radio and the Scout GPS navigation app.

The Tacoma comes well-equipped with standard and optional safety equipment including the Safety Sense suite. This set of safety features has a pre-collision warning system, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection, along with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Additional safety systems such as front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert are available as options. The Tacoma also comes with eight air bags and an automatic slip differential.
