2019 Toyota Tundra
The Toyota Tundra full-size pickup truck is one of the most reliable trucks on the road. The 2019 model year brings back the TRD Pro trim with a revised suspension and new wheels. Other than this change, the Tundra carries over from 2018 without any significant updates. Here is a look at the Tundra.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are five different trim levels in the Tundra lineup. The base SR comes with 18-inch steel wheels, heated side door mirrors, a damped tailgate, and a windshield wiper de-icer. The SR5 adds fog lights, and if you add the TRD Sport package, it comes with 20-inch wheels, a hood scoop, LED headlights and fog lights, and body-colored bumpers and side mirrors.
The Limited trim has 20-inch wheels, movable tie-down cleats in the bed, and automatic headlights, while the Platinum comes with its own unique exterior trim elements: LED daytime running lights, a sunroof, and power-folding auto-dimming side mirrors. The 1974 Edition has some unique styling elements and trim accents.
The TRD Pro is ready for rough terrain with larger Fox shocks, a 2-inch front lift, LED headlights and fog lights, and a black exhaust tip. It also has a front skid plate, a unique front grille, and a different hood scoop.
Engine (Power)
The base engine in the Tundra is a 4.6-liter V-8 that will get you 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque. A bump up to the 5.7-liter V-8 increase the output to 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. The 5.7-liter is an option until the Limited trim, where it comes standard. Both powertrains have a 6-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes standard and all-wheel drive is available on all trims except on the TRD Pro, where the all-wheel drive is standard.
Performance
Both engines give the Tundra plenty of power, and the lighter steering makes it easy to handle. The 5.7-liter can tow up to 10,200 pounds when equipped, and it has a maximum payload of up to 1,730 pounds. The off-road TRD Pro's suspension works well to smooth out rough terrain, which it handles with relative ease.
Interior
This pickup comes standard with a frontbench seat and has room for up to six people. Bucket seats are an available option, and if you choose the CrewMax, there is extra legroom for the rear seat passengers. The higher trims come with perforated leather seats, heated front seats, and in some trims, you'll get ventilated front seats.
Standard tech in the Tundra is impressive. You'll get the Entune infotainment system in all the models complete with advanced voice commands. It also comes with a USB port, and as you move up the lineup, you'll get HD and satellite radio, a navigation app, and a 12-speaker stereo system.
Safety Features
Toyota Safety Sense-P comes standard and includes automatic high beams, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and a radar-based adaptive cruise control system. It also comes with lane departure alert with a lane keep assist system, and a rearview camera is a standard feature in all the Tundra models.
