Signs that You Might be Having Brake Problems

While brakes can have a lifespan of up to 70,000 miles, there are factors such as road conditions, brake quality, and driving behavior that can reduce that number considerably. To make sure you’re continuing to get the most out of your brakes, it’s important that you keep a lookout for certain things. We have listed a few of these for your consideration below.

• Odd Sounds. Strange clicking, grinding, or squealing sounds that occur when you’re pressing down on the brake pedal could be the result of loose brake pads. It could also be that the pads have worn down too far. When you hear noises like these while braking, be sure to have your brakes examined by a certified technician.
• The Brake Warning Light in On. There can be no mistake that something is wrong with the brakes if the brake warning dashboard light has suddenly become illuminated. Make an appointment with a service center immediately to have it checked out to see what’s causing the light to vie for your attention.  
• There’s a Distinct Pull. If the car seems to pull to one side when the brake pedal is being pressed, it might be that the pads have worn down unevenly or there is dirt present somewhere in the brake fluid line.
